Every time a machine axis slides, a tool carriage traverses, or a robotic arm extends, linear motion bearings are at work.

And at the heart of those linear bearings, maintaining precise ball spacing and ensuring smooth, consistent rolling contact along the entire travel length, is the linear motion ball cage. Available in both standard one-piece and double-split configurations, our Linear Motion Ball Cage series is engineered to deliver straight-line precision in every installation scenario your application presents.

Standard linear ball cage — the precision baseline: The standard one-piece linear ball cage maintains uniform ball spacing along the full length of the linear guide or shaft assembly, ensuring consistent load distribution, smooth motion, and predictable friction characteristics throughout the bearing's service life. Precision pocket geometry prevents ball-to-ball contact — the primary cause of noise, vibration, and premature wear in linear systems — while optimized pocket clearance allows each ball to rotate freely without skidding or sliding contact.

Double-split configuration — installation intelligence built in: Linear motion systems present a unique installation challenge: unlike rotary bearings that can be slid axially onto a shaft, many linear bearing positions require the cage to be installed around a shaft or rail that cannot be disassembled. 

The double-split linear ball cage solves this directly. 

By splitting along two longitudinal lines, the cage opens around the shaft, closes precisely, and locks into its operational geometry — without disturbing adjacent components, guide rails, or drive systems.

For retrofit maintenance and in-situ replacement, this capability transforms a multi-hour disassembly job into a simple field replacement.
