It must hold large-diameter balls in precise radial spacing while withstanding the axial clamping forces generated during operation, maintaining ball pocket geometry under continuous load cycling, and guiding balls smoothly through their orbital path between the washer raceways. 

Our thrust cage designs are stamped or machined to tolerances that ensure consistent ball-to-pocket clearance — preventing ball skidding under light loads and ball jamming under heavy ones.

Large steel ball cages — managing mass and momentum: As ball diameter increases, so does the challenge of cage design. 

Large steel balls carry significant mass, generating substantial centrifugal forces at operational speeds and requiring cage pockets with precise geometry to prevent ball-to-cage impact loads. Our large ball cage designs incorporate reinforced pocket walls, optimized pocket curvature, and material selections that balance strength with weight — ensuring the cage guides large balls smoothly without becoming the weak link in the assembly.
